ENGINERuston & Hornsby 2VTH dieselEngine serial number 299460 Engine believed to have been built 1948, re-conditioned 1990 immediately before installation in Jacob Waterways World magazine, June '94 issue, suggests the following for the 2VT: 2 cylinders, 1.646 litres, 10hp at 1000rpm However this figure may be the engine's rating when first introduced in 1936, and a higher rating (perhaps 15hp at 1,500rpm) might apply to post-war engines. Engine control by a traditional speed wheel and push/pull gear lever Warning lights for engine faults Fuel: approx 50 gallons in integral tanks either side of engine beds - with rotary manual pump to 7 gallon 'day' (header) tank. |

ELECTRIC SUPPLY12-volt/35 amp engine alternator charges 1 90 amp-hours (approx) engine battery, 2 90 amp-hours deep cycle cabin batteries. All batteries new 1998. Engine and cabin battery systems are separated by a relay, to avoid flattening the starter battery. A master switch cuts off both systems, and the cabin system is protected by fuses. 240-volt circuit installed with Marechal- type landline/generator connection protected by domestic-type consumer unit |

Hull: The boat was last taken out of water in April 1999 for re-blacking It is fitted with 4 magnesium sacrificial anodes The superstructure was repainted in 1996 Safety: A British Waterways Boat Safety Certificate was issued by J Greatwood in Spring 1998(?).
